When selecting a gantry machining center, you can achieve high-precision machining of large components such as disks, sleeves, and plates. This type of machine has three linearly moving coordinate axes. Additionally, a rotary table that can rotate around a horizontal axis can be mounted on the worktable, enabling the machining of helical parts.

  The structural configuration of a horizontal machining center differs significantly from that of a gantry machining center. In a horizontal machining center, the spindle axis is parallel to the worktable. This structural configuration is well-suited for machining large, complex box-shaped parts.

  The gantry machining center is a machine-tool equipment that integrates advanced technologies such as mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. It is primarily used for machining flat surfaces, flanges, valves, structural components, and holes. It is widely employed in the machinery manufacturing industry for the rough and finish machining of various complex parts, including housings and frames. The machine tool features three-axis linkage, enabling simultaneous horizontal (Y-axis) and vertical (Z-axis) movements of the milling head as well as longitudinal (X-axis) movement of the worktable. It can be used for operations such as milling, boring, drilling, rigid tapping, reaming, and countersinking. The entire machine adopts a gantry structure, offering high rigidity and excellent precision retention. This makes it an economically efficient piece of equipment.

  1. Worktable: The worktable is essentially rectangular in shape. Large castings such as the worktable, bed, columns, crossbeam, and slide gate are all made of cast iron or welded components. The internal cavities of these castings feature an advanced honeycomb-composite arrangement structure. All castings undergo aging treatment and secondary tempering to eliminate residual internal stresses, stabilize the material, and ensure both the consistent machining accuracy of workpieces and the extended service life of the machine tool.

  2. Gantry Frame: Composed of one beam and two columns. It can be categorized into three types: fixed beam, segmented lifting beam with positioning block locking, and freely adjustable lifting beam.

  3. Gate Valve Disc: Structurally, gate valve discs can be classified into open-type and closed-type. In the open-type structure, the gate valve disc is clamped onto the main spindle housing by a pressure plate, and its cross-sectional area is large. In the closed-type structure, the gate valve disc is housed inside the spindle housing, and its cross-sectional area is smaller.

  4. Tool Magazine: There are three basic types: turret type, drum type, and chain type.

  5. Tooling Head Library: The machining of large, complex parts typically requires multiple tooling heads. These auxiliary end caps are specially designed according to the machining requirements of the workpiece and generally include right-angle end caps, extended end caps, special angle steel end caps, and other types of end caps.

  6. CNC Systems: Currently, there are many CNC system suppliers, and depending on different requirements, you can choose from various system brands and models.

  7. Accuracy: Refers to the machine tool’s original precision when no external load is applied. Accuracy is often expressed in terms of its opposite—deviation from the ideal state (commonly referred to as error). The smaller the error, the higher the accuracy.
