Since machining centers are generally developed on the basis of milling machines, they can be referred to as gantry milling machine machining centers and are commonly abbreviated as: Longmen machining center The gantry machining center is one of the most widely used and highly productive CNC machine tools in the world. The main features of the gantry machining center are:

(1) Based on a CNC boring machine or CNC milling machine, an internal tool-changing device is added, allowing the workpiece to undergo multiple consecutive machining operations on its surface after being clamped only once or twice, thus achieving a highly concentrated machining process. (2) Typically equipped with an automatic indexing rotary table or spindle head, these machines can automatically rotate to different angles, enabling multi-process machining of multiple planes or at various angles with just one workpiece setup. (3) Machining centers can automatically adjust auxiliary functions such as spindle speed, machine feed rate, and the tool’s trajectory relative to the workpiece. (4) If the machining center is equipped with an exchangeable worktable, while one workpiece is being machined on the working table, loading and unloading other workpieces on the auxiliary table will not interfere with the normal machining process of the current workpiece.
Operating Procedures for the Gantry Machining Center: (1) The equipment shall be operated under a person-to-person system, requiring operators to hold operating certificates when using the equipment. When large-scale equipment is operated by multiple personnel, a dedicated supervisor must be assigned. (2) Operators should be familiar with the main technical specifications, structural features, maintenance requirements, and integrity standards of the equipment they are using. (3) Pre-operational preparations: Inspect the equipment’s transmission system, operating system, lubrication system, pneumatic system, positions of various switches and controls, safety braking and protective devices, power voltage stabilization system, and electrical manuals.
Longmen machining center The correct operating procedures are as follows: Use the equipment appropriately and follow the instructions in the equipment manual precisely. Do not exceed the equipment’s rated load, performance limits, or standard specifications. During the first programming trial run, operators must work closely with programmers and only begin formal machining after confirming that the program is correct. Before installing the tool, thoroughly clean the tool holder, the spindle’s tapered hole, and the positioning surfaces. Workpieces and tools must be securely fastened for several weeks. When loading or unloading workpieces, take care to avoid collisions with the machine tool; heavy parts and fixtures should be handled with the assistance of a crane or other personnel. During machining, operators must not leave their posts without authorization or delegate their duties to others, nor may they engage in activities unrelated to their work. If you need to step away temporarily, press the “Pause” button. To ensure proper use of the emergency stop switch, never disconnect the power supply arbitrarily.
Due to Longmen machining center With the aforementioned features and stringent operating procedures, the time required for workpiece clamping and measurement, high-speed machine tool adjustments, workpiece turning, handling, and storage is significantly reduced. As a result, the utilization rate of cutting time on this machine tool is 3 to 4 times higher than that of conventional machine tools, thereby boosting productivity. This is particularly advantageous when machining workpieces with complex shapes, high precision requirements, and frequent product variety changes, offering even greater economic benefits.
